When choosing your family’s doctor, is it based on a list you’re given from your insurance company or from a list of researched and vetted providers given to you from someone you trust? Or, maybe you’re the one that has done the due diligence to find the best doctor for you and your family. If that’s you… good for you!
Parents, you know your kids best.
The Industrialization of Healthcare
Over the last few decades healthcare has become industrialized and made more in to a business model than anything else. That business seems to have been taken over by two main industries… 1- Insurance companies. 2- The pharmaceutical industry (a video for another time). Not necessarily in this order.
How have insurance companies taken over healthcare (we should realistically be calling it sick care anyway, since every year we spend more and more but get sicker and sicker)? Because insurance companies tell you what doctors you can see and for what conditions. In addition, they tell you what you will be paying (copays), kind of. You never really know until you and the doctor both get the final EOB’s outlining everything).
Insurance and Medical Necessity: Who Decides?
Here’s what we do know about who decides medical necessity. A parent is often told that the insurance company will cover ‘medically necessary’ conditions. But, you know who gets to decide if you or your family’s condition is ‘medially necessary’? The insurance company itself. We also know that if you’re healthy they don’t cover much, if anything. Wellness visits are sometimes covered one time a year but that’s usually a height/weight/blood pressure check in. Honestly, you can do all that yourself and it doesn’t really tell you anything. DEFINITELY doesn’t tell you if you or your family is healthy or not.
So now you have a doctor that you don’t really know, didn’t get a chance to really sit down with and interview or create a connection with or talk actual family history or concerns with that is contracted with an insurance company that doesn’t know you and has as algorithms and time restraints for visits treating and prescribing for you and your family and things aren’t going the way you want them to go and you’re getting frustrated and you don’t know where else to turn. Well, we think there are 4 key points to keep in mind.
1- Choose a Doctor that LISTENS
2- Choose a Doctor that is willing to go after the ROOT CAUSE
3- Choose a Doctor that is NERVOUS SYSTEM BASED or at least ADDRESSES the nervous system
4- Choose a Doctor that is willing to COLLABORATE or tell you when they DON’T KNOW
The best doctors give the least medicine.

Empowering Parents: Individualized Care for Your Children
One thing to remember parents. You know your child best. Your child is unique. They should be listened to and treated individually and based on their individual circumstances and needs not just given the same advice, prescriptions and treatment as someone else that happened to come in with the ‘same’ sort of things. Why should you take extra care when choosing your family’s doctor?
You care about your family, find a doctor that does the same. There’s a question that is often overlooked and usually just skipped when a potential patient or a parent calls in. Instead of asking that important question, this is what is asked… Do you take my insurance?! Isn’t a better question, are you going to do your best to care for and connect with my family so they (we) can live a better, healthier, more natural life?! Our answer to this question… yes ma’am/sir. That’s what we do. And, we’re excited to help make a difference and help you and your family live up to and reach your God-given potential.
